I was having a hard time finding the problem with this Mackie 1604 unit. I didn't have a schematic. Went looking on the web and found your site and the price was more then reasonable. Ordered it and within the hour had the manual and within 15 minutes had the unit fixed. Best $4.99 I ever spent. Thank you.

This is a service manual in every sense of the word ( French and German versions of the text are included, as well as English..)
There are explanations of the mechanical and electrical functions, plenty of mechanical drawings, and the needed schematics. The quality of the scanning is excellent - all the component values are clearly legible - and very usefully there are pcb component layouts, so you can find a component on the schematic, and then very quicky pinpoint its physical location on the relevant pcb.
I cannot see how I can give this manual any less than the maximum 5 stars! Great value for money, which will pay for itself immediately. Excellent all round!

CORD REEL ASSEMBLY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Removal
1. Lay vacuum with front down. Remove the four (4) screws that secure the cord reel cover, (Fig. 17), and then pull off the cord reel cover. 2. Remove the screw that attaches the cord reel bracket to the back of the dust compartment. 3. Turn unit over, taking care not to let cord reel assembly fall out, and remove the dust cover and motor case. 4. Remove the two (2) wire connectors and disconnect the red and white contact base assembly wires from the two (2) motor wires. Remove the cord reel by lifting the vacuum cleaner up and pulling the red and white wires through the hole in back of the dust compartment. NOTE: If the motor case cover is removed, DO NOT turn vacuum over, as the motor may fall out.

POWER CORD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Removal/Disassembly
1. Lay vacuum with front side down. Remove the four (4) screws that secure the cord reel cover, (Fig. 17), and then pull off the cord reel cover. 2. Take the cord guide out of the cord reel bracket and relieve tension on the cord reel spring by holding onto the power cord head while pushing down on the brake lever assembly. Continue the unwind until cord reel stops turning. NOTE: This is done to relieve tension on the cord reel spring and to prevent personal injury. 3. Remove the screw that attaches the cord reel bracket to the rear of the dust container. 4. Turn cord reel over and remove the center screw in back of contact base assembly. This will separate cord reel bracket from cord reel assembly. Unwind power cord all the way. 5. Place a flat-head screwdriver between contact disc assembly and tab on the cord reel hub assembly, (Fig.18), and gently pry contact disc assembly upward. This will separate contact disc assembly from the cord reel axle. 6. Slowly work contact disc assembly through the slot on the cord reel hub until contact disc assembly is separated from the cord reel hub.
(Fig. 18)
Installation
1. Insert contact disc assembly back into cord reel hub assembly, and place entire assembly on cord reel axle. Push down until it snaps into place. 2. Rewind power cord. 3. Place cord reel assembly onto contact base assembly and reinsert center screw. 4. Replace screw that attaches cord reel bracket to back of dust compartment. 5. Reset the tension on the spring and keeper assembly by pushing down on the brake lever assembly, holding power cord head and turning the cord reel clockwise eight (8) times. This will give the cord reel spring the tension that is required. 6. Replace cord guide. 7. Replace the cord reel cover and insert the four (4) screws that were removed.
